5 out of 5 stars Practical and Easy to Follow

This book is a practical, confidence-building handbook for raising thoughtful kids from birth to 13. Stan breaks big ideas into bite-size, age-appropriate steps: open-ended questions for toddlers, “how do you know?” probes for grade-schoolers, and real-world problem-solving for preteens. I especially appreciated the simple games, conversation starters, and everyday routines (car rides, mealtimes, chores) that make practice effortless. The chapters on media literacy and distinguishing facts from opinions are timely and easy to apply. The tone is warm and encouraging, never preachy, and the layout makes it simple to find what you need fast. If you want practical ways to build curiosity, reasoning, and resilience—without adding another complicated program—this book delivers.

5 out of 5 stars Instructive and Smart

This book dives into what is meant by critical thinking and how it can be used to help children develop physically, mentally, and socially. The benefits of critical thinking versus memorization of a list of facts to pass a test with little or no understanding of whether something is true or false is vital if we expect ourselves and our children to make good and lasting decisions. Critical thinking is also vital for creativity and curiosity. These are the things that help a society succeed and develop - all of which lead to personal fulfilment. The author gives practical ways critical thinking can be encouraged and gives age-specific tasks that a parent can use to help their children expand and grow their minds and mature as they grow physically. the book includes an Appendix with ideas for helping children learn. Highly recommend.
